korean thinking of Imjin war buntyo keicho no eki

  • The reason why Koreans uriginalize Japanese and Chinese culture instead of promoting their own culture is simple because it makes more money.
Foreigners especially Westerners are strangely enthusiastic to Samurai and Ninja (I still don't understand why) and Chinese MA but they cannot distinguish Japanese and Chinese culture.
So they are easily deceived by the Korean swindlers.
If the Korean say "We had same things what Japan and China had" they believe without studying history.

  • Besides if Korea has no martial arts in its history at any point how was it able to survive at all from Japan and China. For instance in several battles Koreans won against Japanese samurai in the imjin war. If they had no military training then that just means the Japanese were weak. Early on there was plenty of ties between Japan and Korea (Baekche especially) so there may be more to the Korean-Japanese connection than most give them credit for although this is largely inconclusive.
  • Koreans won ? LOL. This is korean MA record ↓
武藝圖譜通志序 "Muye Dobo Tongji" The introduction describes,
"Archery was the only martial art that had been practiced by Korean soldiers. We have no spear arts, no sword arts were practiced.
After Japanese invasion, Our King Sonjo ordered to buy a Chinese martial art book Jin Xiao Shin Shu.
King sent Rokan and Hankyo, had them learn the 6 kinds of art included stick from Chinese military officers, and made a illustrated book.
  • @77rouji um yes the koreans won. Japan was forced to retreat from the penisula after 6 years of war and the goal of conquering china was never realized. This was partially from the armies of peasants and warrior monks (dont believe me look up the samurai archives it is a site where scholars of japanese history some of them japanese professors meet to discuss japanese history they had a whol section dedicated to the imjin war) partially from chinese aid and partially from admiral yi sun shin
  • @77rouji also thank you for proving my point that koreans had martial arts. I didnt necessarily mean they had their own but the manual was used to train the military in numberous weapon arts. This is an intro from the early form the Muyejebo. The muyedobotongji is revision from 1791 and contains the original as part of it which is what you read. By the 1791 version there are 24 arts mentioned including numerous sword methods and the use of the cavalry flail an almost uniquely korean weapon.
  • This record is revange of Japanese pirates after the mongolian invation from chinese side.
    長刀解 "Jin Xiao Shin Shu"
This is what I found out when Japanese invaded Ming dynasty. They jumped like dancing, charged foward like lightening. Only what our soldiers could do was frightend.
Japanese bounded well, they jumped 3m in a moment. They could attack us even there was 4.5m distance because the length of Japanese sword was 1.5m.
  • It's hard for our sword to go closer, spear is too slow, they get slashed once they saw Japanese.
The Japanese swords are sharp and they have full command of the heavy swords.
But we aren't just scared. Shooting from distance is effective against Japanese.
But Japanese charge and attack without fear. They can get us while we are loading masket.
  • There is no way to stop them. The way Japanese use sword is fast, our gunners are lumbering.
Our sword isn't efficient to act fast after abandoning masket. Therefore we should have the same Japanese sword.
  • @77rouji ok you have proven why swords from china and korea resemble japanese swords during this period. This does not prove koreans did not have martial arts in anyway which in fact you have proven by verifiying the existance of the muyedobotongji a manual copied from chinese arts in order TO TRAIN THE KOREAN ARMY.
  • If Koreans and Japanese could get over their perceived differences they would be much better off. Both nations are so powerful now (and the koreans only have half a country currently) just imagine how strong they would be as friends and allies.
